Instilling Confidence

After 22 years at Taft, you might say Jennifer Kenerson is “all in.” She is a coach, faculty member, and department head. She is also married to the Senior Class Dean, and mom of a Taftie.

Kenerson is head of the Mathematics Department, and currently teaches AP Calculus AB, Honors Geometry, and Geometry. She encourages members of her department to try innovative teaching strategies, to visit each others’ classes, and to get the student involved in the “solve and discovery” process.

In the course of her career at Taft, Kenerson has coached varsity hockey, field hockey, varsity lacrosse as an assistant, and JV squash. She’s also been on the summer reading committee for the past six years. In the end, it is all about the kids.

“It’s great to witness their growth from the beginning to the end of the year. I love teaching ninth graders, and instilling in them the confidence that they are good at math, and then following them to the end of senior year and seeing how much they’ve changed.”
