Printing Tips

Tactics to Assure Environmental Responsibility in Printing Practices

  1. Simply print less.
  2. Use double-sided printing on printers that have duplex capabilities.
  3. Use smaller fonts.
  4. Use print preview to check document layout.
  5. Save as PDF file rather than print.

In particular, Web printing can often result in blank pages, short overruns of text, or pages with a line of legal small print. As the Web gets bigger and web pages come and go, we need better ways to collect and manage the worthwhile information we find. You can permanently save anything you find on the web and in other applications to your hard drive as a PDF file. We are starting to see internet browsers, such as, Firefox 3, incorporate this feature into their tool set. Some operating systems have this feature built-in and there are many applications and utilities available, that are free or you can purchase, that add this capability to your computer.
