Plan Your Visit
The best way to truly get to know Taft is to visit campus while school is in session. A campus visit gives you the chance to get to know us a bit better, and for us to get to know you, too. Our campus is especially beautiful in the fall; we recommend that you visit any time between the opening of school in September and the application deadline in January.
Scheduling Your Visit
Campus visits take about two hours, and include a tour and an interview.
- Before you schedule your visit, please complete our “Inquiry” form. This gives us the information we need to get you started, and establishes your Taft Admissions Portal.
- After completing the Inquiry form, schedule your visit by calling us at 860-945-7700, or emailing Admissions@taftschool.org.
- Interviews are required of all applicants, and are conducted Monday through Saturday when school is in session; appointments on Wednesday and Saturday are available only in the morning. If finances or distance make travel to Watertown difficult, we will try to arrange a Skype interview, or an interview with an alumni representative in your area.
- If you would like to meet with someone in particular during your visit—a department head, a coach, a member of our music or art department—please let us know at the time you arrange your appointment.
Parking on Campus
There is limited parking available in Taft's Main Circle, accessed via the main gate on 110 Woodbury Road. Additional parking is available directly across the street in the Middlebury Road lot. To access this lot from main campus, exit through the main gate and turn left on to Woodbury Road. At the light, turn right on to Middlebury Road. The entrance to the parking lot is immediately on your right. Follow the crosswalk for pedestrian access to our Main Circle and Admissions Office, located at the top of the Main Circle stairs. Please download our campus map (link) for additional parking locations.
Your Visit: The Campus Tour
Taft sits on a beautiful 226-acre campus in Watertown, CT. Though your tour will not take you through every acre, you can expect to walk across many well-tended, outdoor walkways, and up gently rolling hills to our athletic center. Our historic buildings do feature beautiful old staircases. If you or someone in your party requires special accommodations, please let us know when you make your appointment.
Our student tour guides love talking about Taft—our rich history, the warmth of our community, and the breadth of our academic and co-curricular programs. Feel free to ask questions along the way!
Your Visit: The Interview
The tour is our opportunity to leave you with a great impression of Taft. The interview is your opportunity to leave us with a great impression of you. It is an opportunity for you to not only bring the information you’ve shared with us on paper to life, but to also help us learn more about you what makes you tick. What are your interests and your passions? What kinds of things are eager to learn about? What will you bring to the Taft community as a scholar, an athlete, an artist, or a leader? When you think about your future, what excites you? Every interview (and interviewer) is different, but the goal is always the same: we really want to get to know you!
And as much as we want to get to know you, we also want you to get to know Taft. Come ready to ask us questions. We love talking about our programs, our students, and our community.
Tafties come from all walks of life, each with a story that fascinates and inspires. Meet some of our students, faculty, and alumni here.
