Alumni Weekend Information
Registration
Your may register/pick up your registration packets beginning in the afternoon on Friday, May 16, at the Alumni Office between 3:00–6:00 p.m., and on Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m.–12:00 noon at the Main Circle. Registration will reopen at the Satellite School Store in McCullough Field House after the Alumni Luncheon between 1:30–3:00 p.m.
Fees
Registration fees include the Friday Class Luncheons and the Old Guard Dinner (for Classes prior to 1958), and Saturday's Taft Alumni Luncheon and Buffet Dinner. Class gatherings held off campus and golf tournament fees are not included in the School registration fee.
Service of Remembrance
This service honors deceased members of the Taft community.
It is about 45 minutes long and begins at 5:00 p.m. at Christ Church on the Green, a short walk from the School.
Old Guard Dinner
Headmaster Willy MacMullen '78 and Pam MacMullen host this gathering, which welcomes the 50th Reunion Class of 1958 and honors all classes prior to the 50th Reunion. Invited guests are alumni, widows, faculty emeriti and trustees. Cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m., with dinner following under the tent at the MacMullens' home. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be moved to the Armstrong Dining Hall.
Bus Service to the Service of Remembrance & Old Guard Dinner:
Buses will be available Friday evening (May 16) to transport guests to and from the Southbury hotels (Crowne Plaza & Heritage Resort) to the Service of Remembrance and the Old Guard Dinner. Buses depart the hotels at approx. 4:15 p.m. The Service of Remembrance begins promptly at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Old Guard Dinner at 6:00 p.m.
Buses will depart approximately every half hour beginning at 8:30 p.m., and will stop at both the Crowne Plaza and the Heritage Hotel on the return route, so guests may have more flexibility with regards to their departure time..
Parking & Shuttle Bus Service:
Parking is available in the Annex lot across from the Main School and also in the Odden Arena lot. A shuttle bus service will run between the Annex lot, the Odden Arena and Main Circle from
8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Parking on campus is reserved for handicapped guests only.
Children's Program
During the Saturday luncheon, there is a children's program in McCullough Field House, with activities appropriate for ages 2–10. Parental supervision is required for children under three. Please note that Taft does not provide child care services for the remainder of the weekend.
Golf Tournament
If you would like to participate in the annual golf tournament, please call golf pro Ian Marshall at Watertown Golf Club
(860-274-4387) to arrange a starting time for your group. Tee-off times run from 8:00 a.m.–noon.
*Greens fees: 18 Holes - $45.00 9 Holes - $22.50
*Cart rental: 18 Holes - $15.00 9 Holes - $7.50
*No credit cards accepted / Cash or check only.
School Store
The School Store located in CPT will have open hours on Friday (to be determined) and Saturday morning. For your convenience, a selection of school store items will be available for purchase after the luncheon in McCullough Field House on Saturday.
Please remember that the drinking age in Connecticut is 21.
