Taft Golfers Bring Home Founders League Title
  • Sports

Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Golf team on winning the Founders League title. Taft hosted the league tournament last weekend on their home course at the Watertown Golf Club, and played in nearly ideal conditions.

"As has been our team's strength all year, all six players knew they could rely on their teammates to play well," explained Head Coach Jack Kenerson '82. "This allowed each Taft golfer to relax and concentrate on his own game. All the boys played well and the team won its third tournament of the spring."

Upper mid Chris Gaeta played an exceptional round of golf and posted Taft's low round of even-par 71. This was Chris's best score in his Taft career to date; it earned him the Founders League Individual Championship. When co-captain Drew Powell finished his round, Taft's total score of 375 strokes secured the league title.

With the 24-team Kingswood Invitational Tournament remaining on the schedule, the boys look forward to one more chance to compete together as a team.
