Loss 2-5
The season began today versus a strong Choate team. Choate leaned on their experience to tilt the match in their direction. Meanwhile, Taft's players did a lot of learning and played hard. The match started out quite evenly before Choate pulled away in the competitive match. Halle Wagner was the first to finish a match defeating her opponent 3-0 (11-7, 11-4,11-6) at the exhibition spot. This was followed by a 0-3 loss by Carolyn Yow (9-11, 15-17,9-11). The scores were quite tight and this match could have gone either way. Taft tied the match as Sanju Maheshwari won 3-1 (9-11,14-12,11-5, 11-9) in another nail bitter. Choate took the next match as Katie Salnikoff went down 2-3 (11-4, 6-11, 13-11, 7-11,7-11). As the next round of matches played out, the Rhinos kept fighting but the Boars were stronger today. Madelyn Yow, lost 0-3 (10-12, 6-11, 7,11) as did Julia Ordway (10-12, 3-11, 6-11) and this was enough to earn the victory for the Boars. Instead of rolling over, the Rhinos kept fighting fighting hard but split the next 2 matches. Nico Gusac lost 1-3 (8-11, 11-13, 12-10, 5-11) and Lucy Rand snuck away with the win 3-2 (6-11, 8-11,11-8, 11-7, 11-6). Rachel Lau also played today and won her exhibition match 3-0 (11-8, 12-10, 11-7). The Rhinos break for exams but should hold their heads high after their great effort today. We know what we need to work on when we come back and are looking forward to restarting the season versus Deerfield at home.
