Alison grew up in New York City and Washington, CT. She has spent most of her working life researching and writing about Connecticut history, as a consultant preparing nominations to The National Register of Historic Places and as curatorial assistant at the Gunn Memorial Museum. Her book, Return to Arcadia, Ehrick Rossiter's Washington: The Architect, his Clients, and Their Houses (1997) reflects her fascination with the intersection of social history and architecture. Alison lives in Washington and is a longstanding member and chairman of the Washington CT Historic District Commission. Her two children, Cameron (Bates College) and Ariel (Green Mountain College,)graduated from Taft.
