Chris graduated this past May from Middlebury College, where he majored in mathematics and completed a thesis entitled “The Dynamics of the Logistic Equation.” At Middlebury, he was a founding member and player on the men’s club volleyball team and served as a publicity officer and web master for the College’s Korean American Student Association. During his college summers, he served as a math instructor at Olympiad Academy in Queens, NY, where he taught geometry, logic and math for standardized tests to 8th graders; he worked as a research intern at Rentricity, Inc., a renewable energy company; and he also served as a volunteer and area representative in Malawi at World Camp for Kids, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering children in impoverished communities around the world by teaching them about HIV/AIDS, environmental awareness and gender equity. For World Camp, he led teaching workshops and, while doing so, added to the program’s curriculum. Finally, in the summer of 2009, he served as an instructor in Seoul, Korea, for PrepMaster Asia, where students work to improve their English and performance on American standardized tests. Beyond these summer experiences, he has participated in mission trips to provide basic medical care to the villagers on the outskirts of Manila, Philippines; La Paz, Bolivia; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At Taft, Chris teaches math, coaches thirds volleyball, thirds boys’ squash and JV softball and lives on HDT 2.
