Sammed Bawa '20 has worked hard to fulfill his dreams by finding and creating opportunity at home in Ghana, and across the globe at Taft.
At home, his natural talent, hard work, and extreme dedication earned him one of 21 coveted spots—from fields totaling 800—in the Right to Dream Academy, an organization that has placed more than three dozen African athletes into professional soccer leagues.
But when Taft's Head Soccer Coach Ozzie Parente learned from the Academy's US Chairman that Bawa also dreamed of a college education, he worked with the admissions team at Taft to create a pathway that could help make that happen. In the fall of 2016, Bawa became Taft's first Right to Dream student. The New England Soccer Journal share's Bawa's story here.
