Letter to Community Organizations

July 20, 2009

Dear Program Director,

It is our pleasure to invite your organization to participate in The Taft School’s 15th annual Community Service Day scheduled this year for Monday, October 26, 2009. A commitment to service is one of the educational pillars at The Taft School. In addition to the community service program in which many students and faculty participate during the school year, Taft sponsors this annual Community Service Day as a way for our school community to reach out to the greater Waterbury area.

We are searching for projects for this year’s event, and we would like to include your organization as one that we might serve this year.  Past projects have included landscaping, raking, general clean up, maintenance work, painting, and light construction.  Our students have also tutored local children and served retirement homes in the area.  They would be available to work on October 26 from approximately 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and would be available to you with adult supervision and endless energy. Likewise, our students and faculty would benefit from learning about how your organization serves the community.

If you have a job for us (or know someone who does), please complete the Project Request Form by midSeptember. Please feel free to call me with any questions or ideas. The sky’s the limit.  During the month of August, I can best be reached by e-mail.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Clifford
Community Service Day Coordinator
