Coach Biography: Jen Zaccara
Assistant Coach, Thirds Volleyball
Jennifer Zaccara is in her eleventh year of teaching at Taft, and for ten years, she has coached in the volleyball program at Taft, serving as head coach of the JV team, assistant coach for varsity, and thirds assistant coach. Currently, as head coach of the JV team, she works closely with head varsity coach, Ginger O'Shea, to develop a complete volleyball program that focuses on skill work, goal-setting and team building. There are some shared practices with the varsity team, and JV players experience the eye of all volleyball coaches in terms of their skill development. Peer coaching and skill refinement also occurs when the varsity and JV teams link up for practice time. Circuit training for endurance is a cornerstone of the program, and volleyball players have designated days for work on plyometrics, physical endurance, and balance. In her own school career, Jennifer played basketball and softball, and she enjoys running, walking, hiking, skiing and swimming during free time. Jennifer is the associate dean of faculty, and she teaches two English courses. Her sons, Bryce Rafferty, a graduate of Colorado College who plans to live and work in Denver before graduate school, and Keefe Rafferty, a midshipman at Annapolis' Naval Academy who rows on the Division One crew team, are both Taft graduates. Jennifer has two brothers who also attended Taft.
