Colin S. Farrar attended the Hotchkiss School from 1981-1985, where he was on the varsity football and varsity sailing team. At Brown University he skippered on the varsity sailing team from 1985-1989, serving as captain his senior year. His team was consistently among the top ten in the country during his time there, winning multiple regional championships and a second place national finish in 1986. After college Colin spent ten years as a U.S. naval aviator. He made deployments to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf, flying FA-18 Hornets from the USS Saratoga and USS Enterprise. He also served as a flight instructor in several types of aircraft. A two-time Top Gun graduate, he spent his last years in the Navy as a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor at the east coast FA-18 weapons school. In 1999 Colin married his far-more accomplished Brown teammate, Blaire Largay (three-time College All-American, Women’s National Champion, 1988, and World Team Racing Champion, 2000). They have occasionally raced together as a couple, winning a 7th place finish at the Vanguard 15 National Championships in 2000. Since coming to Taft in 2003, Colin has taught history and assisted in coaching Softball, Boys Thirds & Girls JV Hockey, and Crew. He and Blaire are head of CPT 3 dormitory, where they live with their two children, Owen and Megan.
