Coach Biography: Jack Kenerson
Head Coach, Boys' Thirds Hockey
Jack Kenerson '82, has guided the Taft Golf Team for 17 years and is also back coaching hockey after 14 years away from the game. Jack also served as an assistant Varsity football coach at Taft for 22 years. During his tenure as Head Golf Coach, Jack's teams have won the Founder's League three times and the Kingswood Invitational once. Several Taft Golfers, under Kenerson's tutelage, have gone to have successful DI and DIII college careers, the most notable being James Driscoll '96. Driscoll was a finalist in the US Amateur Competition, has played in The Masters, and has played recently a member of the PGA Tour. More recently, Reid Longley '06 was honored as the NESCAC Champion and Rookie of the Year in the Fall of 2006. In 2007, Reid was joined on the All NESCAC team by Brad Roche '07 and Gus Thompson '07. Recently, the Golf Team has taken two trips outside the New England area. In June of 2004 the team traveled to Ireland for a week at the Waterville Golf Links and in March of 2006, traveled to Alabama for a week on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Jack was raised in Massachusetts and came to Taft first as a student in 1978. In his four years Jack was a member of both JV and Varsity teams within the Football, Hockey, and Golf programs. He captained the 1982 Golf team and was also awarded The Cross Football Award and Bourne Medal in History while at Taft. After Taft, Jack went on to Colgate University where he graduated with a B.A. in History in 1986. While at Colgate Jack played Varsity Golf, captaining the team in both the 1985 and 1986 seasons. Jack also earned his MALS from Dartmouth College in 1997. In his spare time Jack enjoys hitting the links but mostly for fun now. Occasionally, however, you'll find him in the field of the odd tournament. Jack lives on campus with his wife Jen and their three children, Peter, Nicholas, and Alexander. Jack teaches History at Taft and is the holder of the Robert Congdon Chair. Jack also serves as the Dean of the Senior Class.
