The Taft basketball program enters the 2012-13 season looking to qualify for post-season play for the 11th time in the past 13 years. Taft competes in the Founders and Tri-State League during the regular season and in Class A against the top large-school prep programs in New England during the post-season. The 11-12 squad concluded the regular season by winning 6 of its last 7 games to finish with a 15-9 record and earning the #7 seed in the New England tournament. Although the season ended in a quarter-final loss to eventual champion Salisbury, the Taft team was led valiantly by a group of six seniors. Over the past eight seasons the Taft team has compiled a 124-63 record and won three League championships. The 2012-13 team returns six letter winners and will be led by co-captains Kade Kager '12 and Tim Drakeley '12. Taft plays an attacking style of basketball, using an up-tempo fast break game and an aggressive defensive system. Over the past five years, Taft basketball players have gone on to compete in college athletic programs at the following institutions: Amherst, Bowdoin, Brandeis, College of Charleston, Cornell, Davidson, Dickinson, Holy Cross, Howard, Kenyon, Middlebury, Princeton, Sacred Heart, St. Anselm's, Trinity, Tufts, UMass, Union and Wheaton.
