Varsity Baseball vs Avon Old Farms School

On this warm spring day, the Avon Old Farms Winged Beavers brought their A-game.  Although Taft hit the ball hard a few times early in the game, the Avon defense didn’t allow them to drop for hits.  Avon pitching was effective, allowing the Rhinos only five hits on the day.  Meanwhile Taft allowed 31 Avon runners to reach base on 21 hits, 6 walks, and 4 HBP.  Taft’s defensive gem of the game came in the bottom of the first, when Nick LaSpada ’13 (Billerica, MA) jumped the fence to take away an Avon home run.  Avon played its best game of the season, and Taft didn’t play its.  The two teams will square off again next Friday.
