WATERTOWN, CT -

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Taft JV Baseball squad downed Westminstre 12-3 behind a strong complete game pitching performance by Cam Carlson '16. Carlson scattered 7 hits over 7 innings, allowed 3 runs and struck out 6 batters. Carlson only walked one batter and Taft played some fantastic team defense to support their pitcher. Some of the highlights: Julian White '16 made a nice catch in right field, Jack Cannata '15 made one of the finest plays you will ever see at second base, Tristan Smith '14 made a nice pick in his first start at first base, Andrew Colangelo '15 made an amazing diving catch at shortstop and doubled up the runner at second base.

The Taft bats were alive as well and the Rhinos scored 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd and 6 in the 3rd to take an early commanding lead. Ryan Parcells '16 had a big 2-run single in the 3rd inning in a key spot to give the Rhinos a comfortable lead. Other highlights at the plate: Juan Lones '16 stroked a single to left field for his first hit of the season, Colangelo hit his stride at the plate going 3-4 with 3 RBIs, Cashen Keeler '16 went 2-3 with 2 runs scored,

It was a tremendous team effort and the win pushed our record to 4-3 on the season. Our next game is at Trinity Pawling @ 2:30 PM on Wednesday. See you there!
