WATERTOWN, CT -
Avon came to Taft on a beautiful spring afternoon and walked away with a 14-5 win. The Taft team battled throughut but were unable to keep up with the Avon bats. There is no easy out on the Avon team, and Cam Carlson '16 and Brian Tomasco '16 combined to pitch a gritty 7 innings. After being down 9-2 going into the bottom of the 4th inning, Carlson hit a base clearing double to cut to lead to 9-5. Avon scored 3 more runs in the top of the 5th inning to put the game out of reach. The Rhinos never stopped competing, and had a great attitude throughout the contest. Other highlights included Ege Ercan's '16 first recorded out in right field, David Sohn '13 making two nice plays in left field and an amazing line drive catch by Carlson on the mound. Overall the Rhinos played solid team defense and should be proud of their effort.
The JV squad next plays against Loomis at home on Wednesday at 2:30 PM. See you there!
