Hunter Frantz and David Gagas each had 11 points as they led a balanced scoring attack in the Taft Boys JV Basketball team’s 48-36 victory over Berkshire on Wednesday in Sheffield, MA. Taft is now 5-1 on the season. Frantz also had 7 rebounds, while Doug Goldstone added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Richard Gilland chipped in with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals, Quentin Harris had 5 steals, and Justin Lebek had 8 rebounds and took a charge.

Taft held a 28-24 lead at the half and the Big Red gradually built their lead during the second half, but the plucky Berkshire squad never gave up. “We won the game,” said coach Piacenza, “But we didn’t play as well as I had hoped.” “We will have to play better than that in order to beat TP,” added assistant coach Whitley.

Taft hosts Trinity Pawling at 2:30 on Saturday.
