Score/Result: 2-1 W

The team delivered another amazing win and in honor of Coach Reilly’s birthday! Williston got on the board very early with 4 minutes into the game off a well-executed corner. However, these were two skilled teams and we knew it would be very hard for them to maintain a 1-0 lead for 55 more minutes. We dominated much of the game and had quite a few very good chances. The Williston keeper made 8 saves and a number of our shots went just wide. However, Williston also had their chances and Karina Wohlheiter made 7 saves. The game was also close to even in terms of offensive and defensive corners.
The game evener came off a corner. After the initial shot Gracie Lyman had the ball and found Audrey Quirk who was wide open on the left. Without much defensive pressure, Audrey was able to get off a great shot for her first goal on the season! There were 8 minutes left in the half. Again we dominated much of the second half and the chances Williston had all came off corners. They had a number in a row toward the end of the game and a few of their shots went wide or were interrupted by a combination of Audrey and Caroline Queally. Williston put all but one player on the field on the circle for their offensive corners. We knew that if we could break their corner we could get the ball to our midfield and forwards quickly for a counter attack. That is exactly what happened. Caroline cleared the ball out of the circle and Laura Feidelson controlled the ball down the right side, beat the lone defender, fed the ball to Collins through who found Rachael Alberti in front for the tip in. It was a fast and thrilling full field effort that ended with the game winner. Laura played her best game of the season by going to every ball and making important things happen on the offensive line with smart plays. Collins was incredibly strong on the right and generated much of our offense. Gracie and Rachael were effective at pressuring Williston and working the ball down our left sideline.
Williston had two very fast, skilled and aggressive forwards. Gwen McGee, Coco Tautkus and Issy Tabah were so tough and did their best to mark them tightly. With Lauren Drakely still on the bench, Sarah Laico stepped up for in the midfield and was playing very well until she knocked heads with a defensive player and had to leave the game. Krystal Egbuchulam, who normally plays one of our right wings, came into the game as our left mid and did an amazing job! She moved the ball very effectively through the midfield and really helped move the momentum of the game in our favor.
We head up to Deerfield for what will be another well played game of field hockey.
