We got on the board very quickly in this game with great inside-outside passing and outstanding off ball movement. Lauren Drakeley scored the opening goal off a pass from Collins Grant. We scored again two minutes later when Rachael Alberti put in a loose rebound. Then Caroline Queally found the back of the net right off the next re-start and within 5 minutes we were up by three. Caroline scored again of a hard and straight shot that rocketed into the far corner. Audrey Quirk was able to convert on a penalty stroke and Krystal Egbuchulam scored her first varsity goal off an assist from Rachael.
The remarkable thing about this game was how we played as a total unit. Our passing was outstanding and we moved the ball through the backfield very well. Because of injuries and illness, we only had three subs so players came in and out and were moved around the field and everyone adapted and adjusted very well. Sarah Lindenberg’s timing on her defensive tackles was perfect today. Mary DuBois and Collins Grant passed with each other beautifully and both played a totally unselfish game. Gwen McGee played aggressively and did a great job of finishing her play. Audrey Quirk had a number of extremely deceptive moves that were most effective. Issy Tabah and Hope Tierney showed huge improvement in the game and did a super job of keeping their sticks down and on the ball. Maggie O’Neil was rock solid as usual and controlled the defense with strong communication. Coca Tautkus really picked up her speed in this game and was aggressive and played with great confidence. The team really came together today for an outstanding effort.
