In our annual Founders’ League quad match vs. long time rivals Avon, Hotchkiss, and Westminster, the Boys’ Varsity golf team won 2 and lost 1. We knew our match vs. Westminster would be very competitive, as they entered the match with a 15-0 record. Along with their team’s talent, we were playing this match at Hop Meadow Country Club, a course no one had played before, and it proved to be a fine course with challenging greens, which served as a nice home course advantage for Westminster.

Captain Henry Wesson posted the low score for Taft with a 2-over par 38, and this was good enough to share medalist honors with Westminster’s #6 Derek Leydecker. Another notable performance was that of Taft’s #6, Owen McGowen. His 39 was an excellent score today, and his round illustrated the nice strides he has made as a competitive golfer so far this spring.
