Boys' Varsity Lacrosse
vs Kent School
Score/Result: 9-5 W
Wednesday, May 01, 2013—
KENT, CT. - On the nicest day of the year, Taft played its most complete game to this point and finished with a 9-5 road victory over Founder's league foe, the Kent Lions.
Taft wasn't prefect on this day; in the first quarter, the Big Red turned the ball over and allowed two Kent goals that were due to defensive breakdowns by the Big Red. However, after an Kent goal early in the 2nd quarter, both the offense and defense stepped up and from that point forward, Taft went on an 8-2 run to finish the game.
A number of players had a day for the Big Red, however a few boys stood out: Attackman Tim Shield '14 had a 4 point day with 2 goals and 2 assists, and midfielders Mike Mattson '13 and Jack Collins '14 were both great throughout the day with two goals apiece. As usual, Senior Captain Jeff Kratky took care of business at the face-off X winning 13/17 draws and finished the day with a hat trick.
On the defensive side, the close trio of South, Smith and Ambrosino were tremendous for the final 3 quarters and at SSDM, Oliver Sippel '13 earned the hard hat with impressive play on defense and between the boxes.
With the win, Taft improves to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the Founder's League.
