Boys' Varsity Soccer vs Salisbury School

Score/Result:

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

In an entertaining match, Taft found victory over Salisbury 3-0 on Wednesday.  Taft started the game well with some high quality possession as the Rhinos quickly impressed the tempo and style of play on the game.  Despite a handful of opportunities, the first half ended scoreless, yet Taft remained determined to get on the board.  Only five minutes into the second half, Taft earned a free kick and Charlie Vallee stepped up to play it into the box.  With pressure from Shane Hardie and Cole Maier on the ball, the kick floated past the Salisbury keeper and into the goal.  At 1-0, Taft raised their level and after winning a ball back, Daniel Quirk played Andrew Trevenen in behind and he shot well into the opposite corner to make it 2-0.  Only a few minutes later, a fine buildup down the right flank set up a Vallee cross that Percy Algarate met with his head to make it 3-0.  A fine performance at home and a bit of inspiration as the team heads into its final games of the season.
