Boys' Thirds Soccer
vs Loomis Chaffee School
Score/Result: 4-0 W
Saturday, November 02, 2013
Our lads in the Thirds jerseys faced an always tough, resourceful Loomis team today on an unusually balmy November Saturday afternoon. Both teams were a little tentative at first with very few scoring chances in the first twenty or so minutes. Finally, Tommy MacMullen connected with Leon Vortmeyer on a throw-in that Leon carried down the left side and then inserted into the Loomis goal low and near post. The first half ended with Taft up one-nil.
Taft came out fired up in the second half, earning many good chances that resulted in our second goal in the 55th minute as Cashen Keeler headed the ball forward that Ege Ercan then tapped in while sliding toward the Loomis goal. Taft continued to press and earned a third goal in the 69th minute as Kevin Molder and Tommy Mac teamed up on a fine one-two on the left side that was then crossed to Cole "Dick" Johnson who one-timed a tidy shot near post past the Loomis keeper. Taft finished the scoring in the 75th minute as James "Back-heel" Lee assisted Kelvin Xu who chipped the keeper nicely when confronted twelve yards out. All in all, our boys played well but not really well. Christian Gonzalez had a very nice match at left-back and both keepers Willson and Meeker patroled their 18-yd box with authority. Our next match is this Wednesday at T-P where we will attempt to avenge an earlier loss to those lads in blue and yellow. We hope to see you there!
