Junior Varsity Softball
vs Choate Rosemary Hall
Score/Result: 2-10 L
Wednesday, April 17, 2013—
Taft’s JV Softball team traveled to Choate Rosemary Hall on Wednesday, April 17th for their first match of the season. Despite a commanding start, Taft lost the game 2-10. Choate’s experience got the best of the squad as Taft battled with errors and decisions at bat. The game began with an exciting infield homerun by Kasey Pietro who was Taft’s first hitter. She would go 2/3 at bat during the game. Choate closed the first inning with 2 runs to take the lead. The next 5 innings kept Taft’s infield on their toes as Choate advanced their lead by 8 more runs. However, Taft’s infield made some great plays. First basemen, Caroline Blatz, caught 11 putouts including three throws from Pietro. Shortstop, Alexa Colangelo made key plays to Blatz and covered plays on second coming from Agnes Wong. Colangelo would also go 4/4 at bat. Wong made an impressive play fielding a ball and throwing to first-time catcher, Audrey Lam, who tagged the runner for an out in the 6th inning. Lily Tyson did a great job on the mound, throwing 2 strikeouts. Cassie Willson also pitched the second half of the game throwing 1 strikeout, hitting an RBI in the 7th inning and went 4/4 at bat.
For the first game of the season, the Rhinos did a great job at keeping their composure against a more experienced team. They look forward to their next game at Rumsey Hall on Friday, April 19th at 4:00 PM.
