Throughout the windy afternoon in Watertown, the Taft boys played one of their first competitive matches against players of like ability. The doubles point looked set, with our only win from Ezra Levy ('15) + Justin Kwon ('15), until at 1-8 Garrett Guiney ('16) + James Lee ('16) pulled themselves up with a 3-game winning streak. Unfortunately, the match was lost, as was the doubles point, but by no lack of effort.

The singles matches had similar uphill battles: Ezra and Nick Burnham ('16) both dug themselves out of a slow start with consistent shots and creative strategies. The matches were neck and neck for Joseph Shin ('16) and Justin, who couldn't quite get the edge over their opponents.

All in all, we had a nice day out there. While another loss is a bit disheartening, given the improvements the boys are making during practices, I am confident that we can all dig in our heels and pull out a win or more by the end of the season.
