Girls' Varsity Track
vs New England Tournament
Score/Result: 8th place
Saturday, May 18, 2013—
Although the Taft Girls team had only thirteen partcipants at Saturday's NEPSTA Division I Championship Meet at Choate, four earned places in the top six, and there were several other season best performances. It was the class of 2013 that led the way for the Taft Girls. Candice Dyce successfully defended her NEPSTA triple jumping title by placing first and also finished third in the long jump (with a personal best jump) and sixth in the 200M. Tess Kneisel placed second in the Pole Vault, Leah McIntosh placed fifth in the 100M Hurdles and Maggie O' Neil, who carried the three throwing events all season long, placed fifth in the Javelin and sixth in the discus (with a personal best throw) to round off the team scoring on the day for Taft. Distance runners Sara Iannone (!500M) and Maggie Swomley (3000M), and Caroline Kearns (Javelin) all placed in the top ten with personal best performances. The 4X100M relay team of McIntosh, Krystal Egbuchulam, Shana Joseph and Dyce failed to match their season's best time, but nevertheless finished just out of the scoring with a seventh place finish.
