Varsity Wrestling vs Avon Old Farms School

A few weeks ago, we wrestled a thrilling match with Avon where we lost by 3. At that time, they were missing two of their best wrestlers. Today, they weren't. They blew open a 36-0 lead before we scored any points. Nicky Ganek (152) wrestled a marathon match where the lead went back and forth. Nicky pulled ahead with 30 seconds to go and protected that lead to win 10-9. John Davidge (160) then delivered a solid second period pin. We bumped Carl Sangree to 195 to try and leverage some team points, and the strategy worked. Carl pinned in under a minute. Will Pope, who bumped up to 220 needed less than 30 seconds to secure the pin, while David Wolff (285) was on his way towards a pin when the Avon boy was injured. While we fought back to earn 27 points, it was nowhere near enough against the well-oiled Avon machine.
