Fudan visits Taft

Mr. Xie, Principal of the first-rate high school in Shanghai--High School Affiliated to Fudan University (Fudan High School), and Mr. Wu, its Vice Principal, came to visit Taft on March 28. The visit lasted half of a day, and Mr. MacMullen, Mr. Wandelt and Mr. Frew had a business lunch with Mr. Xie and Mr. Wu. During the lunch, the heads of both schools had a profound discussion on topics regarding the significance of the exchange program between the two schools, further plans on developing the exchange program, the selection process of scholars, Fudan High School’s ideal of cultivating talents, students’ life and studies in both schools and so on. Both schools were very satisfied with the performance of the current first exchange students at Taft from Fudan. Mr. Xie also bestowed on Taft CD’s in English introducing Fudan High School. This visit furthered both sides’ knowledge of each other, and promoted both sides’ will to have further cooperation in future, thus enabling the Taft-Fudan Scholarship program to have continuous development.

Fudan High School is a famous, first-rate high school in Shanghai, China, and Taft is one of Fudan’s American partner schools that have exchange programs with it. The goal of Fudan representatives to have this visit was to promote the cooperation and communication between the two schools. Besides Taft, the representatives from Fudan also visited Columbia University, West Point, Miami University, Loomis Chaffee School, Sidwell Friends School, Landon High School, and some other cooperation partner schools on their trip to the U.S.

Mr. Xie remarked that, since both U.S. and China are the world’s largest countries, the educational cooperation and communication between the two countries are essential. With the experience of education abroad, the future generations of both countries will become more competent to achieve success on a global scale and will make greater contributions to both countries.
