Sam Lardner & BarcelonaOctober 12, 2007 in Walker Hall
Sam Lardner and Barcelona is a musical celebration of life and love in the Mediterranean. Artist by artist, they are a brilliant group: Sam Lardner's guitar playing is rock-solid, powerful, pure rhythm and provides the energy and pulse around which his band revolves. Antonio Restucci is a nationally acclaimed guitarist capable of bridging the gap between flamenco and americana at will. Matías Míguez is considered among the best latino bass players of his generation. Sandra Ortega and Yasmina Azlor add richness, depth and authenticity with their syncopated clapping rhythms and powerful vocal harmonies. Sam Lardner & Barcelona is everything that a cross-cultural musical experience should be: artists from diff erent traditions meeting in a place where everyone shines brighter, the kind of eclectic collaboration the world needs now more than ever. Their concert marks the third installment of Walker Hall's "Music for a while" series, following Ralph Lee '53 and the Mettawee River Theater Company and the Arts Department Faculty's evening of "Basically Baroque."
