1943: Mr. Taft dies

HDT dies. A newspaper correspondent in Washington, DC, Richard Hooker, class of 1895, wrote: "Once when I was permitted to discuss some matter with President Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft in the president's office, Roosevelt turned to his secretary of war and chosen successor and asked, 'How do you think that schoolmaster brother of yours up in Connecticut, that keeper of your conscience, would feel about this?'"
