Where are you from?
I am a four-year senior from Bethesda, Maryland.
What kinds of things have you been involved in during your time at Taft?
At Taft, I am a school monitor, dorm monitor, vice president of the Red Rhino Fund, a head of GALS (Taft’s female affinity group), features editor of the Papyrus, a Global Leadership Institute Scholar, design editor of the yearbook, and captain of the Varsity Volleyball and Squash teams!
What is/was your favorite class at Taft?
My favorite class was Honors Upper Mid English with Mr. Magee. He always used to say, "A man's reach should exceed his grasp." This idea was embedded in his teachings, consistently encouraging us to believe in our potential and continue reaching for new heights. He made us better students, and, more importantly, better people.
What is your favorite spot on campus:
I love sitting on the benches on Mac Quad, saying hi to people walking by, and playing with faculty kids.
What has been your most memorable Taft moment?
There’s almost nothing like Saturdays in the spring on Jig Pat when the sun is out and people are outside doing work, playing music, talking, and laughing.
What is one piece of advice you’d give new or prospective Taft students?
Apply yourself! Taft is a place where you can be anyone you want to be. There are a lot of opportunities here, but don’t let them overwhelm you; try new things, find what you’re interested in and passionate about, and go with that!
What does it mean to be a Rhino?
Being a Rhino means being a good teammate, classmate, listener, and friend. Rhinos value the diverse perspectives of others, learn from each other, and take risks, knowing that there is always someone there to catch them if they fall.
