Meet Lily

Where are you from?

West Palm Beach, Florida

What activities do you participate in at Taft?

At Taft, I am a captain of the Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team and I manage both the Varsity Girls’ Ice Hockey and Varsity Field Hockey teams. I am also a school monitor and dorm monitor in Centennial, an upper-school girls’ dorm.

What has been your favorite class at Taft?

My favorite class at Taft was Precalculus with Mr. Cary, taken during my junior year. Mr. Cary was a new teacher so I didn’t know what to expect, but I quickly realized that the environment he created in the classroom with his easy-going and confident delivery of our lessons was exactly what I'd been looking for in a math class at Taft. I looked forward to every block all year!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is Odden, the ice hockey arena. Although I'm not a player, some of my fondest moments with friends have been within its walls. It's also a great place to get a killer workout in on the stadium stairs.

What is your most memorable Taft moment?

My most memorable Taft moment was winning the PSBL, our springtime softball league, my freshman year. My team and I beat the undefeated faculty team to secure our championship!

Why Taft?

I chose Taft because of the feeling of family I knew I would find here. My older sister went here and even on tours and on my revisit day, I felt at home because complete strangers would greet me with a smile and tell me how excited they were to see me around. Now, after four years, I can confidently say that I love each and every member of our community and that I view them as my brothers and sisters.
