Meet Xander

Where are you from?

I am from New York City.

What kinds of things have you been involved in during your time at Taft?
I am currently a school monitor, Admissions Council Head, and have served as an I-Block teacher (a health and wellness program for new students), and dorm monitor. I have been involved in clubs and club leadership, including serving as co-head of the South Asian Alliance, co-and head of Taft Athletics Reporting—a social media platform dedicated to athletics at Taft. I am also a JV Basketball and III's Lacrosse co-captain.

What is/was your favorite class at Taft?

I have had a few favorites, including Upper Mid English, Honors Economics, US History, and Public Speaking.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite places to spend time on campus are the 2nd floor of the library and in the dining halls.

What has been your most memorable Taft moment?

My favorite memory at Taft was Head of School Holiday my junior year. It was the most snow we've had on campus in my four years here, and everyone spent the day hanging out in the snow and sledding. It was really nice to see the whole community come together on a nice winter day to enjoy the snow.

What is one piece of advice you’d give new or prospective Taft students?
One piece of advice I'd give to new students is that they should make the most of all of the opportunities they have every day in different parts of school life. There are so many interesting classes and cool clubs that are available to all students. These opportunities can help you meet such interesting people from all over the world and learn about different subjects and topics.

What does it mean to be a Rhino?

Being a Rhino means taking initiative to help others and being the best version of yourself every day. Every day there are so many opportunities to be a part of activities all over campus. Rhinos take advantage of these opportunities and make our community a better place.
