Biography:

Roddy Pratt graduated from Bates College in 2018 with a BA in English. He competed on the men's rowing team for four years, winning three NESCAC Championships in the Varsity 8+ and qualifying for the IRA National Championship in 2018. His experience leading wilderness canoe trips for adolescents in Canada inspired him to pursue a teaching career. After graduating, Roddy taught English at Rumsey Hall School for three years, and served as English department chair from 2020-21. He spent the subsequent summer commercially harvesting rockweed in Jonesport, Maine. At Taft, he teaches Lower Mid English, Upper Mid English, Boarding School Literature, and The Pilgrimage. He also assists coaching soccer and rowing. Roddy is working toward a master’s of arts in English at Middlebury College. He lives on campus, and in his free time, he enjoys baking bread, playing guitar, and exploring the trails of Connecticut.
