Natasha Chity-Guevara graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Hispanic Studies, a minor in Modern Middle Eastern Studies, and a certificate in French. Prior to teaching Spanish at Taft, Natasha interned at D.C. based think-tank, the Inter-American Dialogue, in their Latin American Education sector and worked as a part of the Galápagos Education and Research Alliance (GERA), a project that aims to promote scientific understanding in both the Galápagos and global community through partnerships with local leaders to address pressing issues where ecology, climate change, poverty, and educational inequality intersect. She also volunteered as a teaching assistant with the Puentes a las Artes program, an art literacy initiative cosponsored by the Barnes Foundation and Puentes de Salud in Philadelphia’s Latin-American community, and was a research assistant with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s “Dispossessions in the Americas” project at the University of Pennsylvania, working on the cultural, linguistic, and geographical mapping of indigenous groups in the Andean region from the colonial encounter to the present. At Taft, Natasha hopes to continue being involved in community by assisting with the Global Leadership Institute (GLI) while also living in USGD and coaching track in the spring.
