Biography:
Skyler grew up on the campus of The Frederick Gunn School in Connecticut, where his father taught and coached for more than 30 years. During his junior and senior years there, he overlapped with Head of School Peter Becker. Growing up in that environment gave him a deep appreciation for the kind of relationship-driven, all-in community that defines boarding school life.
Skyler began his career at Mercersburg Academy in 2018. During his time there, he taught Chemistry, Biology, and Math; served as head coach of the boys’ varsity soccer program; assisted with boys’ varsity lacrosse; advised a rotating group of 10 students; led one of the school’s two major societies; and served as the dorm dean of an upperclassmen boys dorm.
He graduated from Washington College with a double major in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Theatre. While there, he was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team, later joined the varsity lacrosse team, worked as an admissions ambassador and lab prep assistant, and volunteered locally as an EMT.
Skyler is thrilled to be joining the Taft community and is excited for the opportunity to teach, coach, and help build a strong residential culture. He serve as a dorm head in Horace Dutton Taft Hall where he will live with his fiancée, Lucy, his dog, Caylie, and his cat, Weasley.
