M.S., University of Maine
Laura discovered a love of teaching while in graduate school at the University of Maryland, where she won two awards for her work as a teaching assistant. Because she met with more satisfaction in the classroom than in the lab, Laura chose to leave behind research to pursue a career in education. After a few years serving as an adjunct faculty member at several community and junior colleges, Laura arrived at her alma mater, Taft, where she teaches life science courses and serves as co-director of the Global Leadership Institute. In the summer, she and her husband, Dean of Academics Jeremy Clifford, administer a free four-week enrichment program for academically talented students from the Waterbury area. She and her husband live on campus with their children, Rob, Ellie, and Matthew.
