Pilar received a Licenciatura en Filología Germánica in 1991 from Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and a master’s degree from Middlebury College in 2007. Prior to moving to the United States in 2001, she taught English, Latin, and history at Colegio Sagrado Corazón and Colegio Calasanz in La Coruña, Spain. She also taught Spanish history for seven years at Choate Rosemary Hall’s term abroad in Spain. She has been an AP Spanish language reader since 2006. Pilar teaches various levels of Spanish at Taft, from Spanish II to AP Spanish Literature.
