  • British Periodicals (1681-1937) Full facsimile images of more than 160 periodicals from the late seventeenth century to the early twentieth. Topics covered include literature, philosophy, history, science, the fine arts, and the social sciences.
  • Classroom Video on Demand Provides access to thousands of full-length videos and clips on core-curriculum topics
  • Daily Life Through History (Academic)  This comprehensive collection of primary and secondary sources provides insight into the social history of societies from prehistory to the 21st-century. Includes authoritative content from more than 75 Greenwood reference works and original journal articles from prominent historians.
  • History Reference Center An Ebsco database featuring content from reference books, non-fiction books, and history periodicals. (Tip: Limit to full text and choose World History time period in the Timeline)
  • JSTOR Extensive backfiles of scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and sciences, many dating back to the 19th century.
  • Modern World History Online Overview essays, biographies, events and topics, primary source documents, timelines, maps and charts, images and videos from the mid-15th century to the present.
  • Oxford Art Online Includes the full text of the 34-volume print edition of The Dictionary of Art plus several other art reference works
  • Oxford Music Online Includes the full text of the 29-volume print edition of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians plus several other music reference works
  • The Times (London) Digital Archive, 1785-2012 200 years of news in full facsimile images from London's premier newspaper
  • World History in Context Comprehensive collection of reference sources, primary documents, periodicals, maps and multimedia
  • World History: The Modern Era Covers the history of the world from 1500 to the present. Includes reference articles, media and primary source material.

  • To find reliable websites:
    • Britannica Academic includes links to recommended websites.
    • SweetSearch, A Search Engine for Students searches only credible websites approved by research experts. Note: Ignore first group of results labeled Ad 
    • Limit your search to reliable domains by including the phrase site:edu OR site:ac.uk  (edu for educational institutions in the U.S. and ac.uk for educational institutions in the United Kingdom.)    
    • Here's an example using "urbanization". Think about other terms you can swap in and out.
