After graduating from Taft in 1997, Michael majored in English and minored in American Studies at the College of Charleston. He completed a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan in 2018.  Before returning to Taft in 2011, Michael was Director of Admissions at Sugar Bowl Academy in Norden, California, and also worked at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont.

Michael serves as the school's Director of Financial Aid and travels and interviews for the admissions office. He is the head coach of the boys 3rds lacrosse team and runs the intramural squash program.  He lives in the Vogelstein dorm with his wife Siri and their three children, Svea, Finn, and Liv.

Michael is a musician, avid golfer, and amateur chef.  He owns a large collection of historical Taft items dating back over 100 years.
