Robert Eshoo, Rockwell Visiting Artist

October 12 to November 17, 2007

The Rockwell Visiting Artist Fund at Taft and the Potter Gallery host the work of Robert Eshoo from October 12 through November 17. The opening reception is Friday, October 12, from 5-7 p.m. and is open to the public.

Eshoo, who spoke about his work to the assembled school at Morning Meeting on October 11, attended Syracuse University and continued his studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He has taught and exhibited in the New England area throughout his career. His earlier works, which examined the plight of the Sioux Indians, were watercolors in the trompe l'oeil ("fool the eye") transition. New themes are now transformed by the use of real objects - worn wooden shapes, faded colored paper, broken objects, and feathers. His work is characterized by a wonderful sense of composition, beauty and sensitivity.
