On Sunday, November 17, boys’ soccer was crowned NEPSAC Class A champions as they defeated Milton 2–1 in a rematch of last year’s final, in which the Rhinos fell 2–0. The boys’ found themselves down by one through 70 minutes, before James Morrison ’26 found the back of the net off of a pass from Trevor Saruwaka ’25, to knot the game at one apiece. With just a few minutes to go, with the game still tied, Morrison was tripped up in the penalty area, awarding the Rhinos with a penalty kick opportunity. Preston Alessio ’25, a UConn commit, stepped up and scored what would be the game-winning goal. The boys’ finished off the season as not only the NEPSAC Class A champions, their first in school history, but also claiming the Founders League title for the second straight season, their fourth in the last five seasons, and boasting an impressive 17–3–1 overall record on the year.
Another Rhino squad was also in action on Championship Sunday, as field hockey faced off against Andover for the second straight season in the NEPSAC Class A championship. The girls’ earned their spot in the final after two great victories in their quarter and semifinal matchups, a 5–0 victory over Deerfield and a thrilling 1–0 overtime win over Hotchkiss. The girls’ fought hard until the very end, before eventually falling 2–0 to the Big Blue. They finished the season with an impressive overall record of 15–4, a share of the Founders League title, and as the NEPSAC Class A runner-up.
