Field Hockey and Boys’ Soccer Moving on to NEPSAC Semifinals

It was an exciting day on campus as field hockey and boys’ soccer began their postseason runs in their respective NEPSAC Class A tournaments.

Field hockey started off the day, scoring their first goal of the day with two minutes remaining in the first quarter, and never looked back. They would go on to add four more, with three Rhinos contributing to the scoring — Britty Page (3), Caroline Traina (1), and Jocelyn Schwartz (1) — en route to a 5–0 victory over Deerfield.

Boys’ soccer kicked off next, striking first, when Trevor Saruwaka buried the first goal of the game at the eight-and-a-half-minute mark in the first half, before NMH responded with a goal of their own at the start of the second half. The score remained 1–1 for the rest of regulation, and through two five-minute overtime periods, sending the game to penalty kicks. Goalkeeper Reed Orben came up with huge saves, and eventually Saruwaka would bury the decider to send the Rhinos on their way to the semifinals.

Looking ahead to Saturday, field hockey will travel to Hotchkiss to face off against the Bearcats at 2:00 PM, while boys’ soccer will host the Wild Boars of Choate at 2:00 PM on MacMullen Field. Both games will be livestreamed and can be found here.
