With a B.A. in history from Brown University and an M.A.L.S. from Wesleyan University, Colin returns to the Taft faculty after a four-year hiatus, during which he and his wife, Blaire, homeschooled their two children while voyaging 13,000 miles aboard a forty-foot sailboat. Since returning to dry land, Colin has coached the Litchfield Area High School Sailing Team, completed his studies at Wesleyan, and finished Connecticut’s “Fire Fighter 1” training course, qualifying him as an interior firefighter with the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. During his previous time at Taft, Colin served as History Department chair; class dean; debate coach; crew coach; assistant coach for softball and girls JV hockey; and a dormitory head in CPT. Prior to becoming an educator, Colin spent a few years as a pilot for United Airlines, but he found far greater satisfaction during his ten years as a naval aviator and FA-18 pilot. Colin accumulated 330 landings during deployments to the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf on the USS Saratoga and USS Enterprise. As a “Top Gun” trained tactics instructor, he was a subject-expert and lecturer in “strike tactics” and “radar employment,” and his other duties included squadron training officer, legal officer, and safety officer. Colin teaches history and coaches girls thirds hockey and crew at Taft.
