Biography:

After graduating Western Reserve Academy, Emily Clark attended Rhodes College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing with a double minor in gender and sexuality studies and religious studies. During her time at Rhodes, she served as the managing editor of the street newspaper The Bridge, volunteered with the Greater Memphis Special Olympics, and played on both the varsity volleyball and varsity lacrosse teams. Emily graduated Phi Beta Kappa and was inducted into the Rhodes College Hall of Fame in 2015.

After graduation, Emily worked during the summers with Rustic Pathways, leading immersive, intensive community service trips for high schoolers in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. She started her teaching career that same year at King’s Academy, in Madaba, Jordan. At King’s, Emily started the creative writing elective course, advised the Arabic/English literary magazine, Al Majnoonah, coached volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse, and served as house head in an upper-class girls’ dormitory. She also choreographed the King’s Academy Faculty Lip-Sync for four consecutive years. Emily is currently pursuing a Master’s in English from the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English. At Taft, Emily teaches English and coaches lacrosse and volleyball. She serves as dorm head of USGD, where she lives with her husband and fellow English teacher, Jamie Magagna.
