Biography:

Tommy grew up at Taft with his family and went on to graduate in 2006. During his time at Taft, he played varsity football, basketball, and baseball. He captained the football team as a junior, and both the football and baseball teams as a senior. He was awarded the Stone baseball award, the Clinton R. Black Jr. cup football award, and the Lawrence Hunter Stone athletics award his senior year. He went on to earn a BA from Davidson College where he was a 4-year starting catcher on the baseball team. He captained the team as a senior, earned a Southern Conference academic honor roll commissioner's medal all four years, and made the academic all-Southern Conference team his sophomore and senior years. Tommy was awarded the W.E.B. Dubois Sociology writing award. He was selected to join the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society as a senior. After graduating from Davidson, he worked for the Washington Nationals as an advance scout and front office assistant where he focused on video analysis. He then returned to Davidson for two seasons as an assistant baseball coach. He worked with catchers and hitters, recruited athletes across the country, and supervised camps. After two seasons at Davidson, he moved back to Washington, D.C., to work as the baseball director for Koa Sports. Most recently he spent seven years at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts, where he served as a math teacher and admissions assistant. He held several coaching positions at St. Seb’s including JV basketball, defensive coordinator for the varsity football team, and head coach of the varsity baseball team. During many of his summers after college, Tommy worked at the Taft summer school where he served as the director of athletics and student activities and taught public speaking and history electives. At Taft, Tommy teaches math, coaches varsity football and baseball, and lives in CPT with his wife, Brittany Piacenza.
