Mr. Benjamin Chapman
Ben Chapman brings over a decade of collegiate, high school, and international coaching experience to Taft, along with a strong background in teaching and mentoring student-athletes. He joins the Math Department faculty and the varsity football coaching staff after holding coaching roles at the University of Connecticut, Marist College, Stonehill College, Castleton University, and with the Monash Warriors in Australia. While overseas, he earned First Team All-League honors as a player and helped lead the Warriors to a Vic Bowl championship.
Ben has coached and developed more than 25 all-conference players and mentored five current or former NFL offensive linemen: Matt Peart (NY Giants and Denver Broncos), Christian Haynes (Seattle Seahawks), Ryan Van Demark and Chase Lundt (Buffalo Bills), and Valentin Senn (Arizona Cardinals).
Before transitioning to collegiate coaching, Ben substitute taught and coached football, basketball, and baseball at his alma mater, Stonington High School in Connecticut, where he is a proud member of the Stonington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Ben holds a B.S. in Coaching and Administration from the University of Connecticut, where he played center for the Huskies and was part of three bowl teams and the 2010 Big East Championship squad. He also earned master's degrees in Athletic Leadership from Castleton University and Sports Management from UConn.
