Overview
Overview
The Taft boys' thirds lacrosse team provides an opportunity for both novices and less experienced players to learn the fundamentals of the game while playing a competitive schedule of contests against comparable opponents. In the past, thirds' players have worked their way up to both the JV and the varsity teams over the course of their Taft careers. Coach Hoffman and Coach Cary will teach not only the fundamentals of the game of lacrosse but also the spirit of good sportsmanship.

About Head Coach Mike Hoffman
After graduating from Taft in 1997, Michael majored in English and minored in American Studies at the College of Charleston. He completed a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan in 2018. Before returning to Taft in 2011, Michael was Director of Admissions at Sugar Bowl Academy in Norden, California, and also worked at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont.
Michael serves as the school's Director of Financial Aid and travels and interviews for the admissions office. He is the head coach of the boys 3rds lacrosse team and runs the intramural squash program. He lives in a home on campus with his wife Siri and their three children, Svea, Finn, and Liv.
Michael is a musician, avid golfer, and amateur chef. He owns a large collection of historical Taft items dating back over 100 years.
