Tennis - Girls Thirds
Overview
Overview
Taft's girls' thirds tennis team is a fun and competitive spring sport for players that have experience but are newer to the game of tennis. Typically, the team plays six times a week, which includes four practices and two matches. We focus on hitting many ground strokes, serves, and volleys, working on technique and also consistency. The team strives to continue building our players' foundational skills so that they can continue to work their way up the JV tennis team here at Taft. The team typically carries 10 to 14 girls depending on skill level and program turn out, and in matches the team will play four singles matches and three doubles matches.

About Head Coach Collette Campbell
A graduate of Fordham University and Middlebury College, Collette is a University of Pennsylvania Teaching Fellow in the World Languages Department. Collette earned a B.A. in French Language & Literature from Fordham University in 2022. At Fordham, she was a starting player for Fordham University’s Women’s Club Soccer team, a digital producer for The Fordham Ram (a student newspaper), co-directed Fordham Dance Marathon - the university’s largest student-run philanthropy - and was a member of Fordham’s Retreat Team. After graduation in 2022, Collette taught English at primary schools within the Tarentaise Valley of France. It was here where she fell in love with teaching and learning languages by immersion. Upon the end of her teaching program, Collette pursued a Master of Arts in French Linguistics and Pedagogy with Middlebury College in conjunction with Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3. She wrote her Master’s thesis on the perception of the French obligatory liaison by native English speakers and its impact on their comprehension. At Taft, Collette teaches French, lives in Congdon, and coaches JV girls soccer.
